The holiday season is about spending time with those you cherish; for us this means celebrating with friends and the Austin music family. This year we tied one on at Arlyn music studios with a soulful sing-along filled with holiday classics and original songs. This special night certainly could not have happened without our friends at Arlyn: Nine Mile Records and Onion Creek Productions.
Golden Hornet Project is an Austin, Texas based nonprofit focused on the commissioning of new music founded by composers and musicians Graham Reynolds and Peter Stopschinski. Partnering with Adrian Quesada, the group hosted a casual evening backyard party in August, complete with an exclusive performance by Reynolds and Quesada.
Being from Austin means celebrating those who make this city original. We’re always excited to be able to work with talented and creative folks like Keith Davis Young, who spent numerous hours hand drawing this bandana design. He notes that taking that the extra time creates a more meaningful product, something we couldn’t agree with more.
Keep Austin Weird isn’t just a motto around here: it’s how we live. In that spirit, we sponsored the 2016 Austin Weird Homes Tour. The local social-impact start-up started in 2014 and showcases weird living as only Austin can. Homeowners and crowds sipped 9 Banded Whiskey as they took in the weird wonders.
It wouldn't be March in Austin without SXSW Music Festival. So we teamed up with our friends at Arlyn Studios – the recording hub for Austin’s infamous music geniuses, from Willie Nelson to Gary Clark Jr and beyond – to host a party benefitting non-profit organization, Playing for Change. Friends and special guests enjoyed 9 Banded Whiskey and special private shows from Eagle Eye Williamson and Afro Fiesta.
We’ve always been inspired by the energy of the creative community and aim to tie that in to all that we do, from company concept to bottle execution. As we honed in on the look and feel of what 9 Banded Whiskey would become, we reached out to one of our favorite multi-media artists,
The end of the year brings the culmination of so much for so many. For us, it meant the beginning of something special: bottling day at 9 Banded Whiskey. For our small crew, it was all hands on deck at our bottling center in North East Austin, to finally bring Austin’s first whiskey to life. Over the course of that week we blended and bottled what felt like hundreds of cases. The first 1,000 bottles were numbered and delivered to those who have supported us along the way. Needless to say, we’re excited to get 9 Banded Whiskey out the door and into your hands in 2016.
